Camp Poem
I hear the lapping tide reflecting the scorching sun
In the distance I see the dark green looming shadow of the collossal mountain
Above me is a lonely azure blue sky
I sit on rough grass sprinkled with sand
I hear the annoying sound of Olivia talking
I see a little boat serenely drifting on the lake
I feel the pesty sand flies biting my legs
I smell lake water and fresh air
Cold, Alone, Peaceful

I sit on rough grass sprinkled with sand

The Hatchet
We read a book in class called The Hatchet
It was about a boy called Brian Robinson who got lost in the Canadian Forest when travelling to his father in Canada.
He is in a desperate fight for survival when his plane crashes with him and a dead pilot inside, belted in a plummeting jet. Brian survives but is desperately trying to safe himself. He goes through many traumatic experiences such as a tornado and a mission to get the survival pack inside the shredded plane.
He eventually gets home after his grueling travel to the woods.
I think it was a fantastic book by Gary Pulsen, I reccomend this book for anyone who like a good adventure. :)

What Makes Good Instructions?
Yesterday we did an exercise to see what makes good instructions.
I think good instructions have to include...
Specific measurements, Such as:
Step forward 5 metres
Now take 1 step
Shuffle forward a couple of centimetres.
And clear directions, like:
Now turn left
In 2 seconds turn right
Turn right now and then turn left

2. Fold the top corners down to the crease in the middle.
3. Now fold it in half so it resembles an envelope form.
4. Now fold the top corners down like in step 2.
5. Now fold it in half to the left so it is going across instead of up.
6. Fold one half over to the middle and then the other side.
7. Have Fun with your paper plane! :)

Paper Planes
Today we made researched about paper planes.
Taylah and I discovered lots of interesting facts about them, we then created our own and tested them in the learning centre. I made a successful one so I made a list of instructions to make them on a word document.
After lunch we are going to find out which paper plane is the best flyer/diver in the class, I hope my paper plane will do well :)

Science @ School
In P4 we have been doing science in the lab at school.
Our latest experiment has been constructing a lava lamp using water, oil, food colouring and Boroca. Our hypothosis was 'Does a larger jar increase the amount of bubbles?' we found out that it does but it also decreases the size, so we ended up having lots of little bubbles. We tried another experiment comparing 'hot and cold water' in a test tube and 'what would be the result?'. Test tube with the hot water had the most activity and most bubbles but it only went for a little time as the hot water dissolved the tablet quicker than the cold water. We had lots of fun in the lab and I am looking forward to going back tommorrow :)

Keeping Up With The Kaimanawas
At horse of the year 2013 I was very privilaged to meet these three special people known as the Wilson Sisters, they have started a organisation to protect the wild Kaimanawa Horses of New Zealand. I own a Kaimanawa pony who is on the photo just below when we were competing at the Central Platau Compitition, anyway I look up to these girls as they are influencing young riders all over the world to take a stand against the culling of the Kaimanawa Horses. They have plenty of videos on YouTube and on there Keeping Up With The Kaimanawas website. Hope you take time to learn about them :)

Central Platau Equestrian Compitition
On Friday 5th of April four Mokoia Equestrian representitives went to Reporoa to compete in the Central Platau Horse Riding Compitition. I competed in the 70 - 85cm Jumping Classes and it was soooo cool :) My pony was really good and so was the other competeters ponies. Amy's pony Philly got a 3rd in the Hunter class and Belinda and her pony Buffy got a 4th in games. Bella and I did not get a ribbon that day due to our ponies being more experianced to handle but overall we did amazing. I was really happy with our competeters and we are looking forward to our next outing. :)

Mr Hayes
About a month ago P4 helped an old man who was a victim of a home robbery we held a bake sale which we sold home baking for 50c and we then brought in a thoughtful item to add to our 'care package' Mrs Bocock then delivered the bake sale money and the care package to Mr Hayes small flat along with the help of four P4 students Anais(me), Bridget, Thomas and Brad. Mr Hayes was close to tears and was delighted with the hard work P4 had done for him. It felt really nice to help someone and we experianced a warm glow in our hearts from helping him. It was truly AMAZING!
The New Playground!
Mokoia has recently had a BRAND NEW adventure playground put in and all the students are loving it! There is a massive space net and monkeys bars along with all sorts of other bits and bobs that make it extroidanaryily AWESOME!!! I LOVE IT.
Athletics Day
It was athletics day about a week ago and there were events that ranged from discus, shot put and criket throw to high jump, long jump and running 100 metres, 200 metres, 400 metres and 800 metres. I came 3rd in 100 metre sprints final and Tarawera year 7 girls relay came 2nd (I was the 2nd runner!) It was a great day and i think it brought the school together as well as having a friendly little house compitition! I really enjoyed it!!!

WAR
Pale , lifeless corpses sprawled bloodied on the ground
The rotten stench of ash and hot embers as I crawl along the dusty trenches
The pounding drum beat of bombs bursting in my ear
Abandoned and alone with endless, repeating worries circling around in my gashed head
The stubborn, bitter blood oozes across my taste buds
I think this is war!
