I don’t know how long I have waited for this day to
arrive. Ever since I was 4 years old I
have wanted to ride a horse, now as my 8th birthday loomed it
couldn’t have been a better time to pester Mum to let me go to a riding school.
It is seven days until my birthday and I still have not won
reasoning with my mother to let me go to a riding school. As I slumbered down
stairs in my normal hand me down pony pj’s, I was mentally planning my game
plan of winning Mum over to let me go riding with my BFF Bethany Parker who’s
mum owns a riding academy in the north country of New Zealand. For me this is a
golden opportunity for me to ride a horse, but to my mother a horse is none
other than a brutal killing machine that is a pest to the universe.
“Mum please! “My plan was not working so far and my mum
couldn’t have been more stubborn.
“I am sorry Carman but it’s just not safe without me” and
then I saw my chance
“Yes, Yes, Yes, Mum you can come Mrs Parker said you could
come if you wished I just remembered, please mum give it a go I beg of you! “
“Oh dear Carman I can see how much this means to you dear
and I guess I’ll do it, but on one condition that you follow all safety
conditions!”
“Yes mum I promise, thank you so much!” As I ran up the
stairs exhausted of talking I thought of the thrilling adventure just waiting
for me at Bethany’s farm!
It was the big day, in 2 minutes and 43.1 seconds I would be
8!
I smiled and stepped into the stunning stable owned by
Bethany Parker a.k.a my BFF
Here I thought to myself is where the real story begins…
